Summer Car Maintenance Tips

Oil Change | Gossett Hyundai Mitsubishi | Memphis, TN

With summer weather fast approaching, now is the ideal time to get your vehicle in shape for the new season. Here are some summer car maintenance tips to get your car ready for every adventure you head out on this summer.

1. Check fluid levels

While changing the oil in your car is vital, you should also consider checking the levels of the other fluids in your vehicle as well. This includes things like the transmission fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, and windshield wiper fluid. While you’re at it, check those windshield wipers for any cracks or tears.

2. Test the battery

Winter weather can be harsh on a vehicle’s battery, but the excruciating heat of summer can be just as bad, too. First, check the battery to ensure that it’s working properly. If it needs to be replaced, give us a call and we’ll swap it out for a new one. If your car’s battery is working fine, be sure to check it often throughout the hot summer days.

3. Monitor tire pressure

Something else that often goes overlooked in the summer is the tires. Having properly inflated tires means you’re driving safer. If your car’s tires are over or underinflated, you could have a hard time gripping the road or coming to a stop in an emergency. Check the recommended psi of your car’s tires (usually located in the door jamb) and fill them up when needed. If your vehicle needs any repairs or just a tune-up, feel free to swing by and see us at Gossett Hyundai Mitsubishi in Memphis, Tennessee!
