Mitsubishi Motors has spent the past few years revamping its lineup by taking some unusual moves. Cutting many of its long-lasting nameplates and expanding into the realm of SUVs and crossovers, Mitsubishi has found ample success with nameplates like the Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander Sport among families and weekend travelers alike. Now, Mitsubishi sales growth has been reported for the fifth year in a row, showing excellent outlook for the company’s new strategy.
Total sales numbers for the year of 2017 increased over 2016 by as much as 7.7%, the first time the brand sold more than 100,000 units since 2007. December alone showed even more promising numbers, with total sales improving over last year by as much as 15.1%. The Outlander Sport’s sales alone grew 47.1% in December, compared to the same month last year, proving the stylish and sporty SUV’s continuing popularity among buyers.
Over the past five years, Mitsubishi sales growth has swelled as much as 80%. The new Outlander PHEV hit dealerships this past December as well, and the all-new Eclipse Cross debuts in showrooms in March of 2018, so Mitsubishi Motors predicts their sales numbers will continue to increase as they add new vehicles and innovations to the brand’s vehicle lineup.
